We at SFCW are sorry to announce that we will be closing our doors at the end of October. In light of this we will no longer be offering courses or accepting new members. We wish our local woodworking community all the best in their future woodworking endeavors!
We support the San Francisco woodworking community through courses, workshops, and monthly memberships.
Who We Are
Our membership ranges in woodworking experience, from 0-40+ years. Among us are engineers, doctors, designers, artists, accountants, lawyers, and cabinetmakers. We welcome makers of all kinds who wish to pursue woodworking in a supportive, community-minded environment.
San Francisco Community Woodshop is a volunteer-run co-op shop. Many of our core members began woodworking at this shop years ago under the instruction of furnituremaker John Sheridan.
Since John’s retirement in 2015, we have taken over the shop with the goal to continue his tradition of teaching, and to establish a community where people can learn and practice woodworking.
Our 2,500sqft shop, founded by John Sheridan, has been a furnituremaking and teaching shop for 15 years. You can see our list of equipment here.
